What is a Phlebotomist?

A phlebotomist is a healthcare professional trained to collect blood and other specimens from patients, then process and deliver them to the lab so doctors can make accurate diagnoses and treatment decisions.

About the Course

Meet Seth Manning, a phlebotomist at Adventist Health Castle in Kāneʻohe, where he collects and processes the specimens that drive real medical decisions. Inspired by his mother's work as a nurse, Seth began his healthcare journey in high school and hasn't looked back. As a phlebotomist, Seth does far more than draw blood. He plans routes through the hospital, responds to medical emergencies, and ensures specimens reach the lab accurately and on time. This profession is a blend of technical precision, patient care, and calm under pressure, making it a vital, and often underestimated role in every healthcare team.
