What is a Commercial Driver?

A commercial driver operates large vehicles such as trucks, tankers, or tow trucks, to transport goods and equipment. Many commercial drivers also run their own businesses, managing schedules, customers, and vehicle maintenance alongside their time on the road.

About the Course

Meet Alapaʻi Andrews, commercial driver and owner of Take 2 Towing and Hauling. After years as a firefighter, Alapaʻi traded 24-hour shifts for the open road, launching his own trucking business in 2023 and building it from the ground up. As a commercial driver, Alapaʻi does far more than drive. He inspects and maintains his truck, manages last-minute jobs, coordinates with customers, and handles the business side of every haul. This profession is a blend of mechanical know-how, time management, and grit, making it a viable and rewarding career path for those who value independence and hard work.
